Pomonans Await Economic Stimulus Package

POMONA, MO (PP)-Dozens or more, possibly even a couple more than that, are waiting anxiously by their mail boxes in anticipation of the Pomona economic stimulus package. The bill, which had been debated by both parties, was approved after a last minute “tire burn out” on business 63 settled the issue of whether or not to allow the Twin Lakes district (east on N Hwy) to be included. The Conleycans, represented by Mane Shayberry, lost the issue to the Conocrats, represented by “Spot” Bigtick, when Mane’s truck had to be taken to Trackside Auto before competition could commence. “Spot” was by default the winner, which ensured that the Twin Lakes district would be included, even though they don’t pay into the Pomona Voluntary Taxation Provision System. They do pay into the local water department which is needing funding due to lack of prompt bill payment by over half of the district.

The stimulus package includes: 1.) Free water from the water department, provided it is gathered from “run-off” or pot-holes. Juan Teddy warns Pomonans not to get water from the large puddle by the railroad crossing, but lagoons should be o.k. in limited quantities. 2.)Pizzas @ Conley’s on Friday night for $5. 3.)Free swimming in the potholes on County Road 1510 and at the intersection of County Road 1390 & St. Rt. N. Others require a nominal fee charged by locals. 4.) Free use of restrooms and Horse Trader magazines at Conoco.

Both parties agree that these stimuli will offset gas prices and bring back some life into the local Pomona economy. Despite his defeat due to poor vehicle maintenance, Mane Shayberry pledges to continue to be a large part of the Pomona economy. Mr. Shayberry stated emphatically, “Where else would I go? Pomona has so much to offer compared to my home town (Hutton Valley) and the people are so much nicer!”

Leave it to the government to have “red tape” involved in this stimulus package. I am however proud of the fact they are trying to help especially due to these gas prices.
My question is . . . . . I am a bigger person than most Pomonians and therefore cant use the potholes on 1510, 1390 & N highway. Can you convice Juan Teddy to give any of the local churches a discount on their water bill and I could use any of the baptistries to swim in? I won’t even ask to use a diving board – just to go swimming.

Despite the benefits of separation of church and water dept., I’m afraid that Juan Teddy probably wouldn’t because if he lost out any more funding, he would have less power and influence on the local religious community.
It’s been said the reason there’s no Catholic church in Pomona is b/c he charges too much for Holy Water. So, they located in White Church.

To the editor and the readers of the Pomona Post -

True it is that there are laws concerning separation of church and water dept exist. We have tried on numerous occasions to welcome the Catholic Church with open arms as some Pomonans do travel all the way to White Church to attend there. After telling them and all the other churches that the water is SACRED, they did not want any part of it as they believe that holy (or sacred) water is for Catholics and catholics only. So they have moved to White Church to keep to their own and they have left Pomona to the Christian Church, Assem. of God, Church of Christ, Church of God, and Immanuel Baptist (that building was there when Moses parted the red sea or at least its that old).
In another article printed before it was mentioned to get photos of Pomona from the top of either one of our 2 water towers (no not the pink one in the Industrial Park – it aint ours). I have a slight problem with heights but do welcome the editor to climb them and take pictures if he wishes.
Also we have some vehicle parts laying by the water dept. office that we think belongs to a white chevy flatbed pickup possibly owned by Mr. Shayberry – if anyone sees this vehicle on the side of the road again, please take these parts to him so he can get home.
Thanks for your time reading this.

We used to go to White Church to get Holy Water when I was growing up in Pomona, we either had to go to White Church or to Country Boys at 14 Junction.

Is the new construction at the church just east of the tracks on N highway in Pomona a part of the financial stimulus package? Has it finally arrived? It’s been over two years since the original story was published.

We’ve also noticed huge improvements at the mobile home park on CR 1350. More stimulus money in the area?
